The pool of Exotic armor to choose from is quite vast at this stage of Destiny 2’s life but there is one specific chest piece that most Hunters are flocking to.
This is Gifted Conviction, something that not only looks the part but also provides some fantastic benefits for PvE and PvP.

Destiny 2 Gifted Conviction: How to get
Gifted Conviction was introduced in the game via The Final Shape expansion but instead of acquiring it through one of the missions or activities that came with it, there is only a singular person you’ll need to visit.
To get Gifted Conviction, you have to head to Master Rahool as you’ll either have to ride your luck and decrypt the chest armor via an Exotic Engram, or if you’ve put enough of a grind in, focus the Engram to take any chance out of it.
If you have reset your rank with Master Rahool, you will have unlocked the ability to focus your Exotic Engram but it will cost you a bunch of materials to do so.
You’ll have to shell out 1 Exotic Engram, 60,000 Glimmer, and 2 Ascendant Shards to trade for the Gifted Conviction, which is a hefty price to pay but if you’re desperate, it’ll be completely worth it.
The hardest material to acquire is obviously Ascendant Shards but if you do runs of high difficulty Nightfalls or Dungeons, you should net yourself a fair few.
You can always trade off some Enhancement Prisms but if you’re a little newer to the game, it’s likely you won’t have many in the back pocket.
