Samsung want you to know that they are serious about their wearable devices, and one way of showing the “Love” is continued development and support. Support can come in many forms and one of the best for end-users software updates.
The Korean tech giant has already rolled out some major updates for the Gear S2, Gear Fit2, Gear Icon X, and also an update to improve the battery on the Gear S3. Now it is the turn of the Gear Sport, the companies latest addition to its wearable range, to get its very own update. The Platform OS version is now Tizen 3.0.0.2 with firmware version R600XXU1ARC4 and a download size of 80MB.
Gear Sport software / firmware update
This update improves on the layout of exercise Information, making it more readable, and also the option to add notification Intervals and a target heart rate. Both of these features are successfully used by athletes to improve their conditioning and fitness levels.
The update is now being rolled out globally and you should get a notification when the update is available in your region, but this might take a few days / week for it to appear. You can also manually check by using your Samsung Gear App on your smartphone and selecting About Gear -> Update Gear Software. There is no news if these features will be added to other Samsung Gear Smartwatches.
