Today, Samsung Gear S3 Frontier users in the USA started to receive a software update that promises to fix an Issue with sudden battery drain. Update: Fix has been spotted in Germany and Russia. This problem seems to happen when the wearable device was paired to certain mobile models. Samsung have not elaborated to exactly what models are currently affected by this issue, they just want you to know that the resolution/fix is at hand 🙂
The firmware version is R760XXU2CRK2/R760OXA2CRK2 and it is only a 10.17MB download. The platform version is still Tizen 3.0.0.2. We presume the update for the Gear S3 Classic, a model that is technically the same as the Frontier, will also be rolling out shortly.
According to the changelog, the only other thing that is supposed to be improved in this update is the reliability of downloading apps from the Galaxy App Store. We presume this fix will be making its way to other markets from Samsung’s Global Servers. Usually, Europe and Australia seem to be second in line followed by Asia and other markets.
