Samsung’s latest wearable devices– the Gear S3 classic and the Gear S3 Frontier have been around for over a month now. However, the smartwatches haven’t yet been rolled out in all of Samsung’s target markets. Canada, one among such countries is now finally receiving the latest Tizen wearables. Both the smartwatches have now been listed for preorders in the country on BestBuy for $469.99 (CAD) for both the Gear S3 variants. BestBuy are also offering a 10% discount for customers who apply the coupon code WTPREORDER. The smartwatches will start shipping to the pre-ordered customers starting from November 18th.
Unlike the older Gear S2 series, the differences between the gear Gear S3 classic and the Gear S3 frontier isn’t just skin deep. While the Classic variant, like the name suggests goes for a more classic and formal look with its leathers strap and stainless steel bezels, the Frontier has a more sporty appeal to it. In addition to these, the key difference between the two variants is that the Gear S3 Frontier features 3G and LTE support which the Classic variant misses out on as it only has WiFi. Samsung have also managed to cram in a loudspeaker in the Frontier which enables users to directly make and receive calls on the smartwatch itself even when using standalone without a connected smartphone.
However, there also is a regular Gear S3 Frontier without cellular connectivity launched by Samsung. And since the pre-order listing on BestBuy for both the Classic and Frontier have been tagged with a similar $469.99 pricing, we believe it’s the non cellular variant of the Frontier being sold on BestBuy.
Both the smartwatches also share a couple of similar specifications like Bluetooth, WiFi and NFC connectivity, IP68 water and dust resistance certification, 1.3 inch 360x360p resolution Super AMOLED circular display with Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ protection combined with the iconic rotating bezel. Both the variants also feature GPS support to make navigation on the go easier.
