Recently we have seen a Verizon-branded variant of the Gear S3 frontier (SM-R765V) smartwatch making its appearance at the FCC. Now, there is another model that has also been spotted in the database and is believed to be the Gear S3 classic (SM-R775V).
The is something that doesn’t quite make sense at the moment – the only variant of the Gear S3 that has inbuilt cellular capabilities is the Gear S3 Frontier, but if you look at the supporting documentation that has been filed, it suggests that this Gear S3 Classic variant has connectivity for Bluetooth, WLAN and also LTE.
Usually we see a device visiting the FCC just before it gets launched and Indicates a launch of between a few weeks or a couple of months, so hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long. Has Verizon been able to secure an exclusive cellular capable Gear S3 Classic? Time will tell.
