Back in July, the Gear S2 Sport and Gear S2 Classic had received a firmware upgrade that weighed in at approximately 60 MB which brought along some major changes like ability to set photos as watchfaces, direct download of apps and watchfaces on to the watch, automatic sleep tracking, etc . The Gear S2 Classic 3G version however was not part of this firmware upgrade process and had no ETA either. Verizon users in the US are now reporting a 12 MB update hitting their Classic 3G smartwatches bringing them to version R735VVRUZBPC7.
This doesn’t seem to be the same kind of the update that we mentioned the WiFi variants of Gear S2 receiving earlier. The 12 MB update only improves the WiFi stability of the smartwatch as noted in the changelog-
We will keep our eyes wide open for the update and report it immediately, keep following Tizen Experts for more details.
