The Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic are two well designed smartwatches that apart from being a great piece of wearable tech, also couples as a fashion accessory. Customizing the straps on the Gear S2 has been one way of flaunting the smartwatch and appeal to the user’s liking. Both Samsung and third party manufacturers have been making straps for the Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic for sometime now.
Unlike the Gear S2 classic which features traditional watch lugs making it compatible with any standard 20mm pin watch strap, the Gear S2 on the other hand features a proprietary strap connector needing special watch straps made specifically for the Gear S2. Samsung has now addressed this issue by launching a band adapter for the Gear S2 and is being sold now in Germany for a price of €27.5, which allows the Gear S2 to be connected with traditional watch straps just like the Gear S2 Classic. The band adapter comes in dark gray and silver color options. The band adapter can be expected to hit more markets soon in the coming days.
Now that Samsung has made the band adapter official, the developer behind this kickstarter campaign which we reported back in January to provide a similar solution for the Gear S2, might have to work on newer projects (the campaign was also unsuccessful for not raising enough funds in time sadly).
