The Galaxy Watch Active 2 has been gathering a lot of attention and hype ever since those leaked images was shared all over the internet. Now, we are able to confirm more features of the smartwatch.
To start things off, we can confirm that the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will have a touch bezel instead of a physically rotating one like its predecessor. As you may have known, Samsung filed a trademark for the term “Touch Bezel”. It adds a very nice, smooth look and allows a intuitive user experience. The 44mm version of the watch will weigh 36g whereas the 40mm will weigh 31g – they’re both very light. The 44mm and the 40mm feature a 1.4-inch and 1.2 inch 360×360 Super AMOLED display respectively. They both also have Gorilla Glass DX+ in addition to the back glass. The watches case will be built to MIL-STD-810G durability standards
The speculation at the moment is that the Galaxy Watch Active 2 has the same Exynos 9110 chip as the Galaxy Watch Active and the Galaxy Watch. The 44mm and 40mm cases will have a 340mAh and a 247mAh battery respectively. They will both have 4GB of internal storage but 786MB (Bluetooth) and 1.5GB (LTE) of RAM. Instead of a four-point Photoplethysmography, Samsung have moved up to an eight-point. If you don’t know what a Photoplethysmography is, it is an optical technique to detect blood volume changes in the microvascular bed of tissue. It is non-invasive and is relatively low-cost.
In addition to all of this, the smartwatch will also be the first to get Bluetooth 5.0. The advantages of this is that it has better range, it uses less power and you can output audio to two devices simultaneously. Now, there’s less of a chance of the device losing connection when you’re moving about.
If you’re wondering about the colour design of the watches, this paragraph is for you. Both sizes will be available in Stainless Steel and Aluminium finishes. Black and silver are for the entire Galaxy watch Active 2 range. Pink Gold is available for both sizes in Aluminium but Gold will be available for both in Stainless Steel. The LTE variant of the watch will only be available in Stainless Steel.
