Facebook just announced that administrators of Facebook Pages will be able to publish their updates to their Twitter accounts automatically. Administrators will decide which info to share from a Page including status updates, photos, notes and events. A number of well-known groups and celebrities are already using the feature including Dane Cook, Livestrong and the World Wildlife Fund.
According to the Facebook blog post, “If you have multiple Pages, you will have the option to link each of those Pages to different Twitter accounts. This new feature will only link Facebook Pages to Twitter, not your individual profile.” This separation between Pages and profiles ensures that users don’t have to worry about muddying their business-related updates with their personal ones.
Said feature developer Michael Gummelt, “Twitter was a natural next step to link with Facebook Pages because it is a powerful tool for broadcasting short messages widely.” Bands, companies, non profit organization and celebrities are likely to benefit from this new feature as their updates will be more widely distributed and Twitter followers are likely to retweet and redirect new audiences to Facebook Pages.
