The online casino market has experienced recent growth in Denmark, with the latest figures for gambling spend in April having been announced.
The overall gambling revenue has increased 11.6% year-on-year, with the figure totaling DKK665 million (roughly $103 million) as reported in the latest monthly statistics.
As for a monthly comparison, compared to April in the previous year, revenue this year was ahead by DKK596 million (around $91.6 million).
The regulator Spillemyndigheden released the information, stating that Danes spent more money on gambling in April, with online casino and betting seeing a growth in spending.
The authority sits under the Danish Ministry of Taxation and is responsible for a well-regulated gambling market in the Scandinavian country, with the aim for players to be protected against unfair and illegal gambling.
Gambling revenue rises in Denmark for another month
“Particularly online casino and betting contributed to the growth in the total gambling spend with an increase of 21.6 per cent and 6.1 per cent, respectively,” said the regulator.
“On the other hand, land-based casino and gaming machines saw a minor fall of 2.5 per cent and 3.6 per cent, respectively.”
April wasn’t a standout month though, with the previous also seeing an increase in gambling spend. Although it was a smaller rise, at 1.4 percent in March 2025 compared to March 2024, it was said to be driven by online casino.
In March, the online casino market specifically saw growth of 6.4% compared to the previous year. On the other hand, betting, gaming machines and land-based casinos saw a fall in gambling spend.
The statistics for ROFUS, the Danish Gambling Authority’s register of self-excluded persons, were also shared for April.
In the month that saw another rise, there were a total of 60,325 people registered on the platform in April 2025. In the year prior, this figure was 55,899.
ROFUS offers self-exclusion on either a permanent basis, one, three or six months, or 24 hours.
