The Tizen Smartphone has been released in India, Bangladesh and soon Sri Lanka, but there is another country that has firm Interest in Tizen, Russia. The federation has a historical mis-trust of Google & Apple and could find a new alternative to BlackBerry for its secure Corporate needs.
According to documents submitted in March 2015 for the security certification, Federal Service for Technical and Export Control (FSTEC), of the Tizen Operating System (OS) . RBC Director of Corporate Sales, Andrei Tikhonov, says that there will be two phases for the certification. First phase is to get the source code for Tizen, and the second phase is to obtain a device based on this OS. Tikhonov expects the Certification process to be completed by the end of 2015.
The FSTEC Certification guarantees protection against data leakage and the possibility your conversations being listened to. This has previously been a niche market that Blackberry has dominated, but their market share has decreased since 2012, when Blackberry device market share was 6.3%, now in the first quarter of 2015 it is 0.3%. The Samsung Z1 is currently on sale in India and Bangladesh, and according to research firm Counterpoint Research, it became the best selling Smartphone in Bangladesh. In Q1 2015 Tizen sold about 0.2%, which is approx $59,630,000.
