Comparison of the Gear Fit2 Pro Vs Gear Fit2 wearable tech

Samsung Electronics is one of the top companies involved in the wearable industry. After the release of the infamous Galaxy Gear S Smartwatch, Samsung has proceeded to release some very good smart watches like Galaxy Gear S3. Now with the release of the Gear Fit2 Pro, we compare it to last years Gear Fit2.

Samsung Gear Fit2

When you put “Fit” in the name of your product, people expect a certain pedigree of chops in fitness. Samsung made a lot of improvements in the Gear Fit2 over its predecessor. The Gear Fit2 boasts a 512MB RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. The previous Gear Fit came with only 8MB RAM and 16MB of ROM storage.

The Samsung Gear Fit2 runs on Tizen, the company’s own pride and joy of an operating system. One of the proficient features of the Gear Fit2 is its ability to funnel notifications in from your sm Gartphone. But, as a fitness tracker, it does much more than that.
The Gear Fit2 can function without a smartphone and can automatically track your activity as well as inactivity. It can also detect a wide array of unique movements and begin tracking your exercise of choice without any input. This is done by the help of its onboard sensors. This includes a heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope and barometer.
The Gear Fit2 is available for cheap. With the rumor of its successor’s release, it’s wise to wait for the newer Gear Fit2 Pro. However, as usual, when a successor for a device is launched the device’s price may be dropped.

Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro

IFA 2017 is about to start. We expect Samsung to unveil a new wearable in the form of the Gear Fit2 Pro. This is an upgraded version of the popular Gear Fit2. It is believed to come with improved capabilities. to help you do your fitness thing in more places.

The new Gear Fit2 Pro will be swim-proof, which is a great improvement when compared to the previous Gear Fit2. However, price wise the Gear Fit2 Pro will not be the cheapest. But it’s worthy to remember that this is a device that combines the powers of a smartwatch with that of a fitness band.
There will not be mind-blowing changes in terms of the functionality of the Gear Fit2 Pro. But it is likely to be a worthy upgrade. The most exciting thing to note that Spotify will now work offline- a feature that was already available on the Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch according to VentureBeat .

Why Gear Fit2 Pro?

This will be a prominent feature, considering its rarity and is likely to attract the fitness fans who don’t want to stick a phone on their arm but can use their smartwatch instead. The swimming capability will also be a key design upgrade. Considering the Samsung Gear Fit2 was IP68-rated, it wasn’t technically recommended for swimming. But the newer model will be submersible and therefore able to log your water training too.

Otherwise, it’s going to be rather similar to the Gear Fit2 in terms of the internals. As usual, we expect a battery upgrade as well as a processor upgrade. There will be obvious improvements to Samsung’s Tizen operating system, thus making it more efficient. One of the key strengths of Tizen OS is its ability to help its portable smart products last longer- which was clear in the case of Gear S3 outlasting the Apple Watch.
It will also be possible to track all manner of fitness activities with the new Gear Fit wearable, with features like the ‘automatic exercise recognition’ thanks to the in-house gyroscope and accelerometer. The device will be priced at $199 USD. This is not bad considering the longer-lasting battery and an attractive AMOLED display. If you are obviously looking for something cheaper than the Gear Fit2 should see a little price drop making it a little more attractive.

Conclusion

We have often seen new wearables at the IFA. So that’s where we’re expecting to see the new Fit2 Pro at the end of August. The new wearable may be announced at Samsung’s press conference on 30 August.

We believe that the newer Gear Fit2 Pro will be a formidable upgrade both in terms of its water proofing and its accuracy.

In 2014, companies were still figuring out how to make wearables less bulky and more into something that we can wear in public. The Gear Fit was a step in the right direction, but still a ways off. The Gear Fit2 while retaining the looks of its predecessor, it was way better when both of them was compared. The former might have been competent for its time in 2014, but the fact that you couldn’t pause a workout and that accuracy was questionable.

Tizen OS

This fitness-centric adaptation of Tizen OS is made up of slides that are dedicated to different methods of fitness. Each one offers a detailed glimpse into your recent progress. Once the device is paired with an Android smartphone, the smartwatch can do much more. After installing the Samsung Gear App and S Health onto your compatible Android or iOS smartphone, the Gear Fit2 will automatically feed it your fitness metrics. However, the Gear Fit2 is not waterproof, it’s only water resistant. The exposure to water screws with its barometer.
