Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 shows off its first mission, with Bill Clinton cameoing

Raven Software appeared on behalf of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at Gamescom Opening Night Live, producing a trailer that shows off an early mission from the conspiracy-laced period piece set in the early 1990s. Former President Bill Clinton guest stars.

The mission, led by long time Black Ops antihero Frank Woods, has the team abducting a sitting U.S. senator, compromising him with some naughty photos, beating him to a pulp and using a picture of his bloodshot eyes to open a retinal scan and access a black site.

Pretty bog standard CIA stuff, especially given the technology of the time, right? Right.

Activision supplemented the gameplay trailer with a blog post explaining more of what is going on in the story, who you’re seeing how they relate to the larger machinations of what has traditionally been a very complex story, with all kinds of reversals and betrayals. They also note that the mission itself is a lot longer than the six-minute video that is shown; these are just excerpts (cutscenes mainly) to set the table without spoiling too much.

Either way, sounds like we’ll be having a grand ole deeply suspicious time when Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches Oct. 25 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

A multiplayer beta begins Aug. 30 for those who have preordered Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (all platforms) and an open beta weekend commences the following weekend, Sept. 6, for everyone.
