BasysKom, Codero, Gluster and Nixu Open Join The Linux Foundation, further enhancing the position in the Mobile and Embedded Systems fields. Here is the Announcement with basyskom & Nixu being of direct interest to MeeGo and Codero & Gluster potentially providing infrastructure and open source storage support in the future:

These four companies represent the diverse environments in which Linux is accelerating technology innovation. The Linux operating system today powers the majority of the world’s stock exchanges, websites and supercomputers. It is also the foundation for next-generation mobile devices and embedded systems, while enabling new innovations such as the smart grid and highly visible technology advancements such as IBM’s Watson Supercomputer.
Today’s new Linux Foundation members represent three distinct opportunities for the Linux operating system: to ensure security and application development across mobile and embedded systems, as a key component of hosted IT and web services, and as the foundation for storage in today’s maturing enterprise.
basysKom is the development service provider for Qt solutions, WebKit technology, frameworks and applications. The company recently revealed a new User Interface named Contour and based on MeeGo 1.2.
“Linux is powering next-generation mobile device and application development,” said Eva Brucherseifer, Managing Director, basysKom. “Our Linux Foundation membership will facilitate a deeper level of collaboration on Linux between us and the rest of the stakeholders in this space.”
Codero is a leading provider of optimized infrastructure and creates scalable environments using dedicated, managed and cloud hosting. All Codero services, including dedicated Linux server hosting, are backed by SAS 70 Type II secure data centers, live 24/7/365 U.S.-based support, and a seasoned staff with international experience in the hosting business for more than 16 years.
“Our customers depend on Linux-based IT and web hosting services,” said Nicholas Gaugler, Vice President of Development and Engineering at Codero. “Our collaboration with The Linux Foundation and its members will help us meet our customers’ demands and grow our business.”
Gluster is a leading provider of open source storage for public, private and hybrid clouds. Gluster’s products are based on GlusterFS, an open source software project that simplifies the task of managing unstructured file data whether you have a few terabytes of storage or multiple petabytes.
“Linux is giving us the power we need to address mature enterprise storage needs,” said Anand Babu (AB) Periasamy, co-founder and CTO, Gluster. “By joining The Linux Foundation, we will be able to participate in events and working group initiatives that provide fertile ground for advancing Linux.”
Nixu Open helps companies ensure the security of embedded systems
through consultancy and development of open source components. The company is currently working on the MeeGo Security Framework, as well as Single-Sign-On and VPN solutions for both MeeGo and Android.
“The Linux Foundation is host to the most technically advanced Linux-based mobile and embedded initiatives, including MeeGo and Yocto Project,” said Michael Przybilski, Executive Manager, Nixu Open. “Our Linux Foundation membership will further enable us to support and orchestrate the security of embedded systems, benefiting the community as well as our customers.”
“We are pleased to welcome basysKom, Codero, Gluster and Nixu Open to The Linux Foundation,” said Amanda McPherson, vice president of marketing and developer programs at The Linux Foundation. “Their membership is a testament to the rapid growth of Linux across market segments and its ability to address new technology opportunities.”
