Android Go powered Nokia 1 launched in India

Nokia 1, the company’s first Android Oreo (Go edition) smartphone was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona last month. Nokia has now officially launched the phone in India, making it the second Android Go device to be launched in India after Lava Z50.
 

Nokia 1 specifications

The device sports a 4.5″ FWVGA IPS display with a resolution of 480×854 pixels. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) out of the box. It is powered by a 1.1 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6373M processor, coupled with Mali T720 GPU. The phone comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage, further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card.
The Nokia 1 features a 5MP primary camera with a fixed focus lens and an LED flash. On the front, the device sports a 2MP fixed-focus camera for selfies and video calling. The smartphone offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The dual SIM Nokia 1 is powered by a 2,150mAh battery, rated to deliver up to 9 hours of talk time and up to 15 days of standby time.
 

 
On the sensors font, the phone bears an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and a proximity sensor. The smartphone has dimensions of 133.6×67.78×9.5mm.
 

Price and availability

The Nokia 1 will be available starting from March 28 in Warm Red and Dark Blue color options at a price of Rs. 5,499 (approx. $85). Nokia has also introduced Xpress-on covers in Azure and Grey or Yellow and Pink, which will be available for Rs. 450 ($7). The Xpress-on two-tone polycarbonate exchangeable covers that lets users personalise its looks. These covers will be available separately starting next month.
HMD Global has also announced some launch offers for the Nokia 1, in partnership with Reliance Jio, redBus and Servify. Reliance Jio is offering a cashback of worth Rs. 2,200, effectively bringing the price down to Rs. 3,299 ($51). Buyers will also get 60GB of additional data on the network.
The redBus offer gives the users a 20% discount on their first ride booking via redBus. Finally, there is a 12-month Accidental Damage Insurance by Servify on opening a Kotak 811 savings account, and adding Rs. 1,000 in it during the offer period.
