Activision donates $2.6 million to Los Angeles fire relief efforts

Activision has recently announced that it has raised and donated more than $2.6 million for Los Angeles fire relief efforts. They donated $1 million and brought in a whopping $1.6 million from the sale of the LA Fire Relief DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and CoD: Warzone.

Players could purchase the pack in-game for 2,400 COD Points, which amounts to around $20 per purchase. With an estimated $1.6 million generated from in-game DLC sales across Warzone and Black Ops 6, Activision must have sold around 80,000 packs. The pack included a new Ultra Skin and matching weapon skins, as well as a few other goodies like a new emblem, charm, spray and sticker.

According to an X post by Activision, 100% of the proceeds will go to LAFD Foundation and Direct Relief, to help combat the fires and support areas in Southern California affected by the recent fires in early January. The recent wildfires in Southern California and the Los Angeles area amounted to the biggest urban wildfire event in 40 years, resulting in the deaths of 25 people and the loss of thousands of buildings and homes. Whilst the fires are now largely contained, donations are now needed to help support, rebuild and rehome the locals and businesses affected by these fires.

Activision is amongst a host of game dev studios that have donated to fire relief efforts, with many operating in or around Los Angeles. Sony donated $5 million to support the fire fighting departments and rebuilding efforts in Los Angeles. Riot Games, who also have an LA-based office have also donated funds after running a “Give Back Bundle” in Valorant, and bringing back the Firefighter Tristana skin in League of Legends.

The LA Fire Relief DLC is still available in Black Ops 6 and Warzone, so players can make a contribution if they want and are able.
