Facebook’s mobile advertising revenue surpassed desktop advertising for the first time, the company said during Thursday’s fourth quarter earnings call. Additionally, Facebook’s mobile monthly active users continue to grow, with 945 million mobile MAUs, up from 680 million at the same time last year. Overall, Facebook has 1.23 billion monthly active users between both desktop and mobile.
Mobile ad revenue now accounts for 53 percent of total advertising revenue. The company made $1.25 billion in mobile advertising revenue last quarter, surpassing $1 billion for the first time.
But while Facebook’s mobile push increases, don’t expect to see more advertisements in your timeline. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company will focus on the quality, not quantity, of ads.
“The results have really shown that by focusing on quality we can drive pretty incredible business results,” he said on the earnings call.
The company continues to expand mobile advertising, including testing Facebook advertisements in third-party applications in an attempt to court more developers.
