FanDuel goes all in on responsible gaming push with new Play with a Plan campaign

The sports gaming company FanDuel is attempting a new type of campaign that will flip the script, as it launches ‘Play with a Plan’, which focuses on empowering customers to make their own informed decisions about their play.

It falls under responsible gaming, with this initiative to take place across all of the company’s products. In a news release, they say the program has been guided by behavioral research and explains how it includes existing responsible gaming tools that promote introspective decision-making and proactive gaming management, rather than restrictive messaging.

This comes after the company’s responsible gaming program saw the usage of the tool increase 41% year over year, with last year marking a milestone as it achieved the highest participation rate in company history.

What is FanDuel’s Play with a Plan approach?

Play with a Plan will provide actionable guidance that encourages players to interact with responsible gaming tools to fit their gaming experience. These features include the ‘My Spend’ dashboard, where people can see a detailed insight into their deposit and betting activity over week, month, and three-month periods.

The ‘Loss Limits’ are also visible, with this being where users can set a limit on the amount of money they are willing to risk daily, weekly, or monthly. Then, the ‘Deposit Alerts’ is another of the brand’s responsible gaming features, with this allowing customers to establish daily, weekly, and monthly budget parameters with automated notifications.

“Just as people wear seatbelts not because they expect an accident, but as a standard safety practice, planning one’s play becomes a universal approach to improve how players engage with the platform, regardless of their current play style,” FanDuel says in its announcement.

The company says it is taking a more integrated approach “than ever before” as it aims to raise awareness of these features, with a multi-channel strategy to be utilized.
