Five illegal gambling websites targeting Michigan players have been issued cease-and-desist orders by the state’s Gaming Control Board (MGCB).
Five unlicensed online casinos are accused of targeting players in Michigan, with the Michigan Gaming Control Board alleging that they are accepting wagers and deposits from players. The cease-and-desist orders are based on the fact that the board claims the online casinos are violating Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.
This comes after the MGCB has been cracking down on illegal gambling service providers, closing down several of both gambling websites and casinos already in 2025.
The gambling operators include the Cherry Gold Casino, Lucky Legends, and Wager Attack Casino.
“These illegal sites undermine the integrity of Michigan’s regulated gaming industry and put players at serious risk,” said Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB, as reported by Michigan Live. “We will not tolerate unlicensed gambling operations that exploit Michigan residents. Our top priority is to protect the public by enforcing the law and shutting down these illegal platforms.”
What are the charges from the MGCB?
There are slightly different allegations against each online casino, with the MGCB claiming a number of violations of licensing requirements and misrepresenting services.
The casinos have two weeks to comply or risk further legal action from the MGCB, with support from the Michigan Department of Attorney General.
