Gaming on a tiny screen such as the Gear S2 and the Gear S3 could be really tricky when the games aren’t all that well optimized to make use of the tiny space. A large portion of such games are actually scaled down version of smartphone games or games that ran on feature phones (which had a lot of buttons) from yester-years. That doesn’t mean all the game developers for wearable devices aren’t creative enough to come up with a good smartwatch game. Aleksanr Bakiev is one such developer proving everyone wrong with his brilliant game for the Gear S2 and Gear S3 called Wind Rises.
Earlier, this used to be a paid game and sold on the store for about $1. But now, the developer seems to be in a happy mood as he has made the game free to download so there’s no reason for you miss out from downloading the game. Now let’s talk about the gameplay of Wind Rises. You are flying a cute red glider over a greenfield on an endless loop. But you need to control the altitude of the plane to collect coins while flying and more importantly to avoid meteors showering on you like its dooms day.
Controlling the altitude of the airplane is where all the fun lies. As instead of using the touchscreen to do the job, the developer has done the smart job of using the unique rotating bezel to control the plane. Turn the bezel right to fly higher and to the left to fly low. This is one of the neatest implementation of the bezel for a game on the Gear S2 and Gear S3 till date.
If this excites you, then try the game right away by downloading Wind Rises on your gear S2 or Gear S3 from the Galaxy Apps store. The download size is below 500kB.
