Samsung has been reported to be working on a new wearable device which goes by the name Gear Sport and the device has already been certified by FCC. The Samsung Gear Sport has now been certified by the WiFi Alliance, the organization which ensures that WiFi products are up to standard. The device was certified on August 18 and has the certification ID number WFA72730. The document mentions that this is the Gear Sport and also shows that the Gear Sport still wearing the model number SM-R600 will run on the latest Tizen 3.0 operating system.
This would make the Gear Sport the first Samsung wearable that would run on Tizen 3.0 wearable platform. Presently, all the smart gadgets released by Samsung this year run on Tizen 3.0, including the latest Samsung Z4 smartphone, Samsung’s 2017 Smart TVs and Family Hub 2.0 refrigerators. Apart from running on Tizen 3.0, the WiFi Alliance data also shows that the Gear Sport will come with 2.4GHz frequency WiFi support, WiFi b/g/n and WiFi Direct for data transfer.
The Samsung Gear Sport was first spotted when it received Bluetooth certification from the Special Interest Group (SIG) having the model number SM-R600. Then, the wearable was thought to go by the name Gear Pop until it made a second appearance about a week later at FCC filed under FCC ID A3LSMR600, with the same model number as the device certified by SIG. The FCC Data revealed the device would be manufactured in Vietnam just like the Gear Fit 2 Pro.
There is no detail yet as to when the Gear Sport will be launched but we believe that isn’t too far away, considering the frequency at which it is making the rounds in the various certification agencies.
