Samsung working with UCS, Russia to introduce Samsung Pay

In an attempt to make contact less payment extremely simple and widely accepted, a number of Samsung’s high-end devices including the Tizen-based Gear S3 are preloaded with Samsung Pay. These devices come with a unique MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) chip which mimics the swiping of a debit/ credit card in most card machines by sending magnetic pulse when the device is placed near them. The service is currently supported only in a handful of countries like US, South Korea, Australia, etc. And hence as part of extending the technology to more markets, Samsung are now working with United Card Services (UCS) to bring the technology into Russia.

The partnership will help Samsung to make Samsung Pay compatible with POS (Point of Sale) terminals across the country which and as mentioned by Samsung, the MST mode of transaction should support 90% of such machines without any hassle. UCS are currently rolling out software updates at such POS terminals and bringing in new modes of authentication to the make the payments secure. Elena Vinogradova, CEO OF UCS was found saying-

WE, AS A COMPANY THAT HAS LONG WORKED WITH THE LEADING PLAYERS IN THE RUSSIAN MARKET, AND TO PROVIDE A MODERN AND CONVENIENT SERVICE TO ITS CUSTOMERS,Were CONVINCED THAT THE NEW SERVICE OF OUR PARTNERS WILL BECOME VERY POPULAR AMONG CARDHOLDERS. ALL INSTALLED BY UCS, POS -TERMINALS HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY made to ACCEPT PAYMENT VIA SAMSUNG PAY APP FOR THE WHOLE OF RUSSIA
