According to industry sources Samsung Electronics is looking to further expand the Tizen ecosystem. The Samsung Z1 was released in India on 14 January and has sold over 500,000 units. Soon after the Z1 was released in Bangladesh and made up 23.4 percent of the smartphone market.
Samsung is now happy enough with the progress of the Z1 to launch another Tizen based Smartphone in Russia, China, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. We also have Tizen based products in the market place like the Smart TV / Smart Camera and Gear Smartwatches, with the next gear smartwatch on the horizon. We are also going to see the launch of the POWERbot Cleaning Robot and the Tizen fridge expected to launch soon.
Tizen is a central part of Samsung’s IoT strategy and will have a prominent place at the Samsung Developer COnference (SDC) in October 2015, but before that we have the Tizen Developer Summit India July 2015 in Bangalore, and also the Tizen Developer Conference China September 2015, in Shenzhen. That is a lot of events, a lot of opportunities and a lot of potential collaboration.
