Samsung has released a Tizen smart watch in the form of the Samsung Gear 2, but now, according to sources in CNET, the korean hardware manufacturer is due to launch their own Android wear offering next week at Google’s developer conference, Google I/O.
So why release Tizen and Android? Being a Tizen site we would prefer dearest Samsung to only release Tizen from now till the end of time, but the fact is that Android and Android ware is an immediate revenue stream that Samsung does not want to miss out on.
Samsung are thought to be showing an Android Wear smartwatch that uses either their own Exynos range of processors, or possibly some Qualcomm ones, according to CNET sources. According to market reasearcher IDC, the wearables market will ship over 19 million devices this year, which is triple of last years figure. Samsung declined to comment on the Android Wear device but said in a statement that it’s “committed to relentless innovation and new products are always in development.”
Google I/O is only around the corner now, June 25th, So not long to go.
