Yahoo’s Username Recycling Gets Rolling

Yahoo has begun reassigning old, unused usernames to new users who placed requests on a Yahoo wishlist earlier this summer. Users will receive an email if they received one of their top five choices. If not, Yahoo will put them on a new watchlist for those who didn’t get their preferred name choice but would like to in the future.

The watchlist allows users to monitor up to five preferred usernames for the next three years. It’s free for people who signed up for the original wishlist, and costs $1.99 for new users.
