Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, has unveiled their very first fitness tracker, the Redmi Band, at the Mi Fan Festival 2020. The tracker comes with a price tag of 99 Yuan ($14/£13). Very cheap compared to other bands in the market.
The display of the Redmi Band is a 1.08-inch colour display. The module is fitted in a rectangular dial. Unlike Xiaomi’s fitness bands, which are rounded and pill-shaped. The band of the fitness band comes in four colours. These colours are black, blue, red and brown.
Many details about the wearable are still unavailable. However, the company states that you’ll be able to get 14-days out of a single charge of the Redmi Band. Usually, the battery life of a device tends to be lower than what a company says depending on how you use it. So we’ll see the feedback when the Redmi Band is released. The fitness bad charges with a USB-A port at the end of the chassis itself. You won’t have to go searching for your charging dock.
As expected with a fitness tracker, the band has an optical heart rate sensor. The wearable will be able to track your steps throughout the day and other activities. These other activities include running and swimming. With the low price, you get no NFC, tic-for-tat. This is a little unfortunate but if you’re possibly looking for a more basic fitness tracker, this could be something to consider.
As well as this, we hope that the cheap price doesn’t affect the quality of the band. For example, you wouldn’t want the number of steps you’ve taken to be completely inaccurate. If the fitness band does have GPS, you would want it to connect and track accurately.
