Following up Monday’s announcement of SteamOS, Valve today announced plans for a “new category of living-room hardware”—that is, gaming consoles that run SteamOS. Only without actually providing any actual details.

Valve’s vague announcement provided no information about what the products will be, what hardware specifications Valve has in mind or who its “multiple partners” might be. The company said it has designed a prototype game machine and is inviting 300 users as initial beta testers.
