Upcoming race sim Project Motor Racing will use Giants Software Engine to power it, here are the first screenshots of how it looks

A short while back we reported on the upcoming Project Motor Racing, and that race game royalty Ian Bell and his Straight4 Studios had teamed up with Giants Software, long-time makers of tremendously popular Farming Simulator, in all of its guises, to publish the sim when it was ready.

Now it seems the partnership will go further with the much-anticipated race game using Giants’ own technology to power it over the line.

The engine is currently being fine-tuned to fit into the chassis of the Project Motor Racing machine ahead of its 2025 launch.

Ian Bell, CEO at Straight4 Studios, said: “Developing a new generation of sim racing games requires that we solve some hard questions. Foremost is how to align our state-of-the-art physics engine alongside the graphic fidelity that our fans demand from us. In the Giants Engine, we have found the solution: a game engine that allows us to build a beautiful simulator while ensuring framerates do not suffer as a result.”

The Giants Engine was developed entirely from the ground up by the team and was first seen back in 2008 in the first iteration of Farming Simulator. Undergoing continuous development since then across PC and console, it is now getting ready for its new challenge.

Project Sim Racing

Boris Stefan, CSO & Head of Publishing at Giants Software said, “When we committed to self-publishing Farming Simulator in 2021, we made no secret that we were on the lookout for external titles that slotted into our vision. In Straight4 Studios, we found the ideal candidate: a studio that, like us, wants to create world-class simulation, and a new project from a high-profile studio to enrich our publishing portfolio.”

Using a brand new engine will doubtless bring challenges but it is one the team at Straight4 is taking head-on.

“Straight4 and Giants both share deep simulation roots and high production values,” said Kevin Boland, CDO at Straight4. “Competing in the specialized and technically challenging sim racing arena with Project Motor Racing is a testament to the versatility of the GIANTS Engine. We’re sure both Farming Simulator fans and sim racers will come out as winners from this partnership.”
