The miniature-based board game, Unmatched, has debuted two new The Witcher-themed sets to add to its roster. Unmatched brings different franchises together to duke it out on the table, with these two sets featuring The Witcher himself, Geralt, and other characters like Yennifer and Ciri.
Each pack comes with all the characters advertised on the front of the box, with a limited edition Geralt in the tub miniature available on publisher Restoration Games’ website.
What Witcher figures are included in Unmatched?
The Witcher sets both introduce the following characters with miniatures:
Steel & Silver:
- Geralt of Rivea
- Ciri
- Leshen
Realms Fall:
- Yennefer
- Triss
- Eredin
- Philippa
Each set also comes with its own deck of cards to play the game with, as well as counters and other bits needed to play the game.
The Realms Fall set also introduces a first for the game, wherein you’ll choose either Triss or Yennefer as your main character. The other will act as a sidekick.
While the game can be played with up to four players, the two Witcher sets will only support three players out of the box. You’d need to add another box or another set, with an estimated maximum time to play at 40 minutes.
The Witcher’s best moment immortalised in new figure
If you order through the website, as mentioned above, you’ll get the exclusive Geralt in his bathtub miniature. This private moment became an in-joke online, with PC Gamer using the image constantly whenever they talk about the game. These all come unpainted, similar to Games Workshop’s Warhammer, except they are prebuilt – so no need to whip out the glue.
Unmatched launched in 2019, and has accumulated 22 sets. These aren’t just steeped in fantasy, but also pull from non-fictional historical figures like Muhammad Ali and Bruce Lee, or Shakespeare himself.
Each release is split into how many players can play out of the box, with only two sets being released that are solo characters on their own. These range from four to two players, and include franchises like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Marvel.
Miniature tabletop games have been going from strength to strength, with a predominant amount stemming from Games Workshop and Warhammer. After Space Marine 2’s release, the company has seen a massive uptick in sales and the opening of new plants to produce even more of its product.
