The new Zenless Zone Zero character has their own X account

Zenless Zone Zero has teased the newest playable S-tier agent in the game’s upcoming 1.5 update, confirming a long-rumored character, Astra Yao, an in-game musician.

The account, @AstraYao_Nomics, already has 17.8k followers on the platform, and the three posts have garnered thousands of likes, reposts, and replies each. Many of the replies are very excited by the character reveal with “YESSSS” being a popular response to the inaugural post.

The latest ‘Agent Record’ post by the Zenless Zone Zero X account has officially revealed Astra Yao as an in-game character with a hint at a new faction, the “Stars of Lyra”, which is featured on several of the promo images. Her music concerts are being positioned as huge events in ‘Reverb Arena’. The tagline for the faction seems to be “Music is Magic!” which suggests characters in the faction will perform attacks and cast spells that are music-themed in some way, like bards.

The other in-game factions feature four characters each, so it stands to reason that the ‘Stars of Lyra’ if it is a new faction, will see several more agents added over time.

On the @AstraYao_Nomics account is another interesting tidbit: the bio says “The concert is in preparation~ Stay tuned! (See you on January 22~)”.

There is no stated release date for the 1.5 update yet, but there was a lot of speculation that it was going to be January 21. The date in Astra Yao’s X bio suggests speculation was a day off and January 22 will be the actual release date of Zenless Zone Zero 1.5.

What is Zenless Zone Zero?

Zenless Zone Zero (or ZZZ to its fans) is a free-to-play gacha game made by HoYoverse, the developers behind Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. In it, players act as a Proxy, someone who can guide others in exploring alternate dimensions called Hollows, which is where the combat takes place. The gameplay alternates between 2D exploration and puzzle solving, and 3D hack-and-slash combat.
