The Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) has taken enforcement action against three unlicensed gambling operators for illegally targeting Swedish users.
Bans have been issued to EOD Code SRL, Igloo Ventures SRL, and MIBS NV, which will no longer be able to accept bets from players in the Scandinavian nation.
Spelinspektionen detailed that the betting operators utilized affiliate marketing and ad placements on Swedish websites, as well as connecting with influencers to promote their services on social platforms such as Instagram and Twitch.
These activities were conducted despite the operators not holding the required national license, resulting in the punitive action from the regulator.
The Swedish Gambling Authority also confirmed action against More Tech Group, a licensed operator responsible for sites such as lottoexperten.se, lottoexperten.com, and superlottoclub.com.
A preliminary review will assess the company’s adherence to different obligations listed in the Swedish Gambling Act, including written consent in telephone sales and customer identity verification against the national self-exclusion register, Spelpaus.
Sweden’s gambling regulator is detemined to reflect the intentions of the national government to oversee a stringent regulatory framework.
Spelinspektionen also reiterated that all enforcement actions and bans are listed on its website in the interests of transparency.
