Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion is getting closer and Bethesda just revealed some of what we can expect

As Starfield’s Shattered Space release moves ever closer to its 30th September release date and the base Starfield game is now in a much better place than it was upon launch, devs and publishers Bethesda have just posted a teaser on X listing just a few of the things we can expect from the first Starfield expansion.

With at least one more expansion in the pipeline after this one, Shattered Space expands the story further and delves into the mysteries of the Va’ruun’kai, the race that was but a placeholder for this expansion in the original release.

The post on X read:

“Thank you to the millions of players who have made the Settled Systems their home and helped make this an incredible first year for Starfield

We have much more coming, beginning with our first story expansion, Shattered Space, releasing September 30. Here’s a bit of what you can expect when Shattered Space launches:

  • Over 50 new locations to discover and explore across Va’ruun’kai
  • New grenades to craft that stem from organic material you gather (and it’s gross)
  • Formidable new enemies – be on your guard for Redeemed and Vortex Horrors…
  • You haven’t seen the last of Zealots, Spacers, or the Crimson Fleet… As you explore the planet be on the lookout for those taking advantage of the situation.

Stay tuned – we’ll share more about #Starfield’s Shattered Space soon.”

While not exactly giving everything away it seems new enemies and new crafting will be at the fore, while also tipping a nod back to the races and organizations we met a year ago.

Starfield has been receiving regular updates since its launch and is now a quite different landscape from the slightly soulless affair that launched in 2023. Players recently got the chance to drive vehicles around the vast planets in a much-requested feature.

Shattered Space is set to launch at the end of the month on 30th September.
