Sony recently made a huge announcement on its blog regarding its cloud-based game streaming platform PlayStation Now. The announcement was that post-August 15, 2017, Sony would discontinue the PlayStation Now service on multiple platforms at once. The list of these platforms also includes Samsung’s Smart TVs. Sony will also be discontinuing PS Now service on its own products such as the PS3, PS Vita, PS TV, 2013, 2014, 2015 Sony Bravia TV models and all Sony Blu-ray player models on the said date. Sony will also be discontinuing the service on its 2016 Bravia line-up of TVs as early as April 1st, 2017.
Sony also commented that the move was initiated in order to focus exclusively on the PlayStation Now service for the PS4 range of consoles which include PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS4 Slim and also Windows PC. Users can still access their PS Now game saves from the PS4 or Windows PC post discontinuation.
If you happen to be a PS Now user on these to-be-discontinued platforms and aren’t willing to migrate to a Windows PC or PS4 consoles to continue using the service, then you’ll have to disable your PS Now subscription to prevent being charged for the service down the line.
