Sony is bringing a new PlayStation Portal update which will see users finally able to stream games from the cloud with this being an addition that “many fans have been asking for.”
The company released the news on Tuesday (November 19) with the software update being released on the same day except for people in Europe who will see it being rolled out from Wednesday.
This will bring a beta version of some big new changes including support for cloud streaming on PS Portal, although this is only in an experimental mode.
A new PlayStation Portal update releases later today, featuring:

“When the update is live, PlayStation Plus Premium members will be able to participate in a beta for cloud streaming on PS Portal, allowing select PS5 games in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog* to be streamed directly from our servers, even without a PS5 console.”
The gaming giant states that features available during the beta period could change over time and may not reflect the final experience.
Other new additions to the beta include being able to stream select PS5 games in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, streaming up to 1080p/60fps, DualSense wireless controller features, and PlayStation Plus Cloud storage.
With the last one, players can save data, and game progress can be stored up to 100GB. This will be automatically synced with the PS5 console so gamers can switch more easily between local and streaming gameplay, as well as across multiple devices.
How to access Cloud Streaming in Beta on PlayStation Portal
The Cloud Streaming is only available to people with the PlayStation Plus Premium plan and unfortunately this isn’t yet offered in every location. It does, however, include the United States, United Kingdom, and numerous other countries throughout Europe.
To access the beta, you simply update your PS Portal to the latest system software and then follow the below steps:
- Open “Quick Menu” and access “Settings” on your PS Portal.
- Select the “Cloud Streaming (Beta)” button
- Switch the Cloud Streaming (Beta) toggle on (this will be off by default).
Once it has been enabled, there will be a new option on the home screen that will allow you to access games through Cloud Streaming.
