Satisfactory 1.0 mods – they are finally here so how do they work?

Despite being in Early Access since 2019 Satisfactory has only just reached version 1.0 and has been released as a full game. The title has had mod support for many years but the recent major upgrade broke all that, ruined the Mod Manager, and broke every mod going, so players who have invested such a long time in their games have been forced to wait before jumping into 1.0 or risk breaking everything.

Fortunately, that all seems to be sorted now, even though it has taken a month to do so. Satisfactory Mod Manager v3 has been completely rewritten from the ground up and now comes in better and smaller than ever before. But is modding Satisfactory nice and simple now, or are there still problems lurking? Let’s find out.

Do all mods run on Satisfactory 1.0?

The quick answer is no they do not. Mods must be rewritten by their creators to work with the next version of the game. Many of the more popular ones are starting to be amended but inevitably there are going to be mods some people, maybe even you, use that have been long since abandoned by their devs and will never get the update they need to work. Fortunately, though, most of the popular ones will probably make the leap to 1.0 sooner rather than later.

How to mod Satisfactory 1.0

First off you will need a mod manager such as SMM3 and you can grab the latest version of that from the GitHub page.

From there you will need to mods you want to run, and also to check that they are compatible with Satisfactory 1.0

A great resource for Satisfactory mods is the FICSIT app website which does a great job not only having many mods and guides for the game but also trying to keep them up to date with what works with the latest version of the main game.

From mods such as counters and transporters to easy ways to keep track of all your nodes, there is a mod that will make your Satisfactory experience, more, I don’t want to say it, but Satisfactory.

Then all you need to do is install them through the mod manager as per each individual mod’s instructions and load your game. Woop, now you have transparent conveyor belts the world is a better place.

Obviously, when the console version of Satisfactory arrives modding will be handled completely differently there, if indeed it is supported at all.
