Samsung Pay now available in Italy

Since its launch in August 2015, Samsung‘s mobile payment service, Samsung Pay, has been going from strength to strength. In fact, Samsung Pay has proven to be an award-winning service for the company. At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona last February, it was recognized as the “Best Mobile Innovation for Payment.”
Now, following the big expansion in Mexico towards the end of 2017, Samsung Pay is all set to hit Italy. Italy becomes the 21st unique market for Samsung Pay.

Samsung Pay in Italy

Similar to other markets, Samsung Pay is available to users in Italy as long as they have a compatible Samsung device. The Samsung Pay compatible devices in Italy as of today are: Galaxy S9/S9+, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S8/S8+, Galaxy S7/S7 edge, Galaxy A8, GalaxyA5 (2016 & 2017), Gear S3 and Gear sport. The fact that Samsung Pay supports both NFC and MST payment technologies separates it from the rest in the competition. It literally works at any store that accepts regular credit/debit cards.
Along with debit and credit cards, you can also use the service for storing membership cards and promotional coupons. Users in Italy will also receive exclusive regional offers, such as 20% off coupons for Daybreak Hotel, EF Education, Leroy Merlin, and Moleskin. The Samsung Rewards program, which offers points in exchange for purchases, is not yet available though.

Partner banks

At the time of launch, that is today, Samsung Pay is available to credit, debit or prepaid cards of the Visa and MasterCard circuits issued by Mediolanum, BNL, Hello bank!, Intesa Sanpaolo, CheBanca, UniCredit and Nexi. Please note that all the cards from all the banks may not yet support Samsung Pay. You’re recommended to verify the same from your bank.
Samsung Pay also supports loyalty cards and coupons from Bennet, Day Break Hotels, EF Education, long S, Ikea, Moleskine, Penny Market, Leroy Merlin and Prenatal. More banks and local partners are expected to join soon.
