Last year fitness devices and trackers really took off. Tech companies saw the opportunity that that the ability to track / monitor fitness had to offer. Samsung have their own fitness tech such as the Gear Fit and Galaxy Gear, Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and the current flagship Gear S, but according to a new patent application, there is more on the horizon.
Samsung patent originally filed titled as “Mobile communication device” in March 2014 with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), showing a slim fitness tracker that can wrap around the users neck or arm possibly. The device will not be running Tizen, but possibly the real time nucleus OS that is in the Gear Fit, as the functionality will be quite limited and therefore no need for a app ecosystem.
