Samsung introduced their wearables Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit in February at the MWC in Barcelona. Some European countries are still waiting for the first models on sale but India now is covered by the official Samsung India e-store.
The Gear 2 and Gear 2 each have a 1.63 inch Super AMOLED display with 320 x 320 pixels, which is similar to the first Gear. One of the major differences between the Gear2 and the previous one is the operating system: It’s now Tizen based in stead of being Android based. Another major difference is the Gear2, the most complete model, comes with a 2 MP auto-focus camera. With it you can take pictures as well as record 720p HD clips. The other are cheaper and camera free.
Al Gear 2 devices have an IP67 certification which supports the claims that the gear2 are able to withstand dust and water, albeit no swimming tool nor faultless in a desert storm. Connection to your cell phone are by Bluetooth 4.0 LE but it also packs IrLED which you can use to control some Samsung TV’s by WatchON Remote. Apps and features like a calculator, ChatON, a flashlight function, voice memo, smart relay, S voice, but it can also be used as a stopwatch or timer.
For the health conscious Samsung designed the Gear 2 Fit.
It’s smaller and slender (like it’s users I guess :)) which leads to the use of a wide in stead of a square 1.84-inch curved super AMOLED (432 x 128p) display. It brings you the convenience of a pedometer, heart rate sensor, an accelerometer and several gyro sensors. All these accessories help you to monitor your heart rate for an optimal work out and it offer several ways of communications like calls, SMS and e-mails and more when it’s paired with a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. It looks smart too, although that’s a matter of taste.
The Samsung Gear 2 comes in Gold Brown and Titan Silver where the Gear 2 Neo comes in Gray and Black. The gear fit is available in black only. Now or soon in a shop near you!
