Samsung Electronics to introduce an IoT smart building system in Seoul

In recent times, Internet of Things (IoT) has attracted so much attention and Samsung Electronics has been in the forefront of its development since its inception. The concept of IoT is quite simple, it is all about establishing a connection between various devices/machines and the internet, so as to create an environment of data exchange which will improve the overall efficiency and convenience of smart devices. Now, Samsung is set to unveil its IoT smart building system on the 18th of October in Southern Seoul, South Korea. According to industry sources, this system will have the capacity to consolidate artificial intelligence with the management of buildings. In addition, this smart building system (b.IoT) will be able to use multiple sensors and information from closed-circuit TVs to automatically control the temperature and lighting of buildings.

A Samsung executive said

“In the past, IoT use has generally been centered on home applications, but if it can be applied to buildings it can greatly expand the scale of the market,”…”There have been overseas interest in the new solution and by using company buildings as test beds and working out any bugs Samsung can move to tap into the export market.”

The b.IoT will also be able to control the air conditioning and heating systems in a building such that it can switch on the air conditioner shortly before the arrival of operators and when the building is not in use, it will automatically cut off the power supply. This system will reduce waste, provide an optimal working environment and it will better protect corporate secrets. The use of b.IoT will not be restricted to Seoul as Samsung intends to deploy its services to its Spire Building in Warsaw, Poland as well as two of its local research and development properties in Daegu and Yeongju both in South Korea.
