Red Dead Redemption – PC specs unveiled – can you run it?

Almost 15 years later we finally get to have a look at the PC specs for Read Dead Redemption – The same year the game originally came out programmers were testing Instagram for the first time, One Direction was formed and Iceland had that big volcano that grounded air traffic for weeks. It was the perfect time to play RDR, and although it’s been a bit of a wait, we can’t wait to play it once more, this time on a proper monitor with proper controls.

Having announced the arrival just a few days ago, Rockstar has now told us what kind of gaming rig we need to play this classic, so let’s have a look to see if you have something that will cope with the specs.

Red Dead Redemption PC Specifications

We only get Minimum and Recommended specs sheets for RDR. It doesn’t look like it will be anything too onerous for most games to get this up and running and looking as pretty as it can do.

The minimum and recommended specs for the PC release of Red Dead Redemption reflect its original 2010 release date, with modern tweaks to handle 2024 hardware. It’s a relatively lightweight game in today’s terms, especially for such a huge, open-world classic. At a time when we are already seeing games clamoring for 4080s and the like, it will be good to play a game at full settings without fear of your PC setting on fire.

Minimum Specs: The Intel i5-4670 or AMD FX-9590 processors and 8GB RAM requirements are pretty low by today’s standards. The GPU demands, such as a GTX 960 or Radeon R7 360, were mid-range cards from several generations ago, so most gamers with even an older system should be able to run this decently.

Recommended Specs: The Intel i5-8500 or Ryzen 5 3500X paired with an RTX 2070 or RX 5700 XT leans more toward mainstream gaming rigs from a couple of years ago. These specs suggest that the game will look and run beautifully on hardware that a lot of PC gamers may have long since retired to a drawer, or that spare parts box under the stairs.
