PUBG Blindspot – the new 5v5 top down shooter now bears the name of the ever-popular battle royale

Krafton Inc is maximising its PUBG brand and has renamed what was previously knowns as Project ARC to PUBG: Blindspot.

The 5v5 team-based top-down tactical shooter that delivers fast-paced, strategy-driven combat with intense firefights and realistic gunplay. “The game will blend the thrill of high-intensity shooters with the strategic depth unique to the top-down perspective.” so says the game’s description, and we will be able to see for ourselves when a playable demo hits Steam on 21st February as part of the digital storefront’s upcoming Steam Next Fest.

This is the first opportunity for players worldwide to experience the game. Following the demo the devs will take everything they have learned and gather feedback to refine and enhance the gameplay. Presumably once that process is completed we will start to get a firm release date fed out.

Continuing on, “PUBG Studios chose the name PUBG: Blindspot to reflect both the development philosophy and core gameplay elements. The PUBG brand in the title represents PUBG Studios’ commitment to expanding into new genres, while Blindspot signifies the game’s innovative blend of top-down shooting and vision-based tactical play, offering players a fresh and engaging experience.

If you can’t wait to see how the game plays, you can check out the above trailer featuring Matt “Kickstart” Smith, a renowned PUBG Esports player, showcasing Demolition Mode, where teams must strategize and execute precise gunplay to succeed.

It’s interesting to see the PUBG universe expanding into new genres and companies beginning to use existing branding for new IPs. The game now joins the original PUBG and PUBG Mobile, but is the first departure from the battle royale style of game.

We look forward to Assassin’s Creed FC 26.
