Auto App Challenge Launched.
It seems that games and challenges are de rigeur in Tizen developersland.
In order to promote Innovation in Connected Services for the Driver The Auto App Challenge is opening its doors to international developers that ware both able and willing to showcase their in-car infotainment and connected services.
“There is a lot of innovation related to cars and drivers happening in the mobile app ecosystems, but these innovative start-up often have difficulties to get noticed by the automotive industry. The Auto App Challenge is a unique opportunity for them to boost their profile on a worldwide stage,” explained Ludovic Privat, organizer of the Auto App Challenge but also known as the co-founder and editor of GPS Business News.
The Auto App Challenge is open to all developers whose companies are not older than four years and whose products and services are not yet commercially available from a car manufacturer. The submission process is very simple and lightweight, it al fits on a two pages application form and a video.
“We are expecting a lot of creativity, especially in areas that are hot at the moment: parking assistance, multimodal transport, real-time traffic, road safety, and energy efficient driving” added Ludovic Privat.
The three finalists of the Challenge will be offered a 15 minutes presentation of their services and a demonstration tabletop at the ConnecteDriver conference taking place in Brussels (Belgium) on January 29-30, 2014.
In addition to exposure to key industry decision makers at the conference, the winner will receive an interesting set of prizes from the sponsors of the Challenge. One of these is deCarta, which is offering a free one year license of its Connected Car Platform that include turn-by-turn GPS navigation, Maps, Local Search and more.
“The game is changing with regards to telematics. There is an opportunity for Developers and OEMs to deliver and monetize differentiated connected services that provide real value to users in a more driver-centered manner than they’re getting today,” said Kim Fennell, CEO at deCarta. “deCarta is proud to be a sponsor of the Auto App Challenge to help deliver on that opportunity.”
