A new website has been launched in the Philippines, named PAGCOR Guarantee, which aims to crack down on illegal online gamers and protect players.
The announcement came on Wednesday (June 18) with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) behind the new website.
This government-owned and controlled corporation regulates, operates, authorizes and licenses games of chance, games of cards and games of numbers, including casino games.
Speaking about the new guarantee website, where members of the public can check the legitimacy of online gaming providers, the chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco said: “This new website will help our players easily identify and verify whether the online gaming sites are duly licensed before playing or making any payments.
“By providing the public with a quick and accessible way to check a site’s legitimacy, we are empowering them to make informed decisions and avoid falling victim to fraudsters and scammers.”
PAGCOR Guarantee to act as a portal for licensed platforms
The site is already up and running and features a regularly updated list of licensed internet gaming platforms under PAGCOR’s oversight. On the page, players can directly enter the specific gaming sites too.
The portal has been described by the CEO as underscoring the corporation’s intensified campaign to promote safe and responsible gaming.
On the website, it states on the home page that this is the ‘gateway to Pagcor-licensed online casinos and online gaming platforms.’
Alejandro went on to urge the public to verify whether or not the gaming platforms they are using are legitimate before they engage in any online gaming activities. The growing number of complaints against gaming sites that do not pay the winnings of players has been noted too.
“Illegal online gaming sites not only endanger players but also erode public trust and deprive the government of vital revenues,” the PAGCOR chief said. “The PAGCOR Guarantee is a key component of our regulatory framework to protect both the industry and the Filipino people.”
