Oppo‘s Find X has been turning heads with its pop-up camera module. But the upcoming handset is not a one-trick pony. Chinese phone regulator, TENAA has recently added a new variant of the Oppo Find X on its website. The new listing reveals the phone to have another ace up its sleeve: a whopping 10GB of RAM, placing it on the verge of becoming the first smartphone to have such a generous serving of RAM.
Oppo Find X with 10GB RAM
The Oppo Find X is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and houses a 3,730 mAh battery with VOOC fast charging support. However, its most significant feature is the pop-up camera module, which effectively ditches the notch and bezel, giving the phone’s display a truly immersive look. Now by adding 10GB of RAM, Oppo is surely pioneering a smartphone revolution.
The TENAA listing doesn’t suggest the new version of the phone to add anything extra other than RAM. Everything else seems to be the same. So you still get up to 256GB of ROM, and most importantly, no fingerprint scanner. The phone only comes with a built-in face-recognition for biometrics.
There’s no word yet on the release date or the price of the device. However, considering that the standard version, with 8GB RAM, costs about $1150, one can imagine that 10GB RAM will only add to it. Also, whether this new variant will make it beyond China is still a mystery.
Noted industry leaker, Ice Universe, tweeted the new TENAA listing saying it will be the world’s first 10GB RAM smartphone. However, another Chinese maker, Vivo is also rumored to be chasing the same numbers. So it remains to be seen who will be the first out of the gate with this much power. But in any case, it’s nearly time we see smartphones with double-digit gigabytes of memory.
