Oppo Find N5: world’s thinnest foldable book-style phone launching soon

The Chinese electronics manufacturer Oppo is aiming to impress with its upcoming smartphone launch for the Find N5 which has been dubbed the world’s thinnest book-style folding phone.

The official Oppo profile on Weibo showcases the new Find N5 smartphone, with the global premiere announced for February 20, 2025 at an event in Singapore.

‘Slim, Yet Powerful’ is the tagline the brand is promoting, with the newest lineup said to be slimmer and stronger than before.

On February 5, the Chief Product Officer of Oppo Pete Lau released some information on the process behind creating the new device on X: “We’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with foldable phones.

“By meticulously analyzing every detail and adopting 20 new materials across 30 key components on the upcoming #OPPOFindN5, we achieved unparalleled thinness without sacrificing durability…”

What we know about Oppo’s Find N5 foldable smartphone

Small amounts of information have so far been disclosed across social media, but the full launch is expected to go into detail.

As the day nears closer, it’s likely more information will become public, especially as several Oppo ambassadors have gained early access to the Find N5.

The head of the Oppo Find series, Zhou Yibao, shared on Weibo that the device will be equipped with the new generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition. It’s said to be the “world’s only folding flagship that supports IPX6, IPX8 and IPX9 full-level waterproof at the same time.”

Yibao shared the news on Weibo that the Find N5 will be available in three different colors which includes Misty White, Twilight Purple and Cosmic Black. However, only the white and black have been announced so far on Oppo’s X and Facebook accounts.

We also know that the layout has been streamlined this time around, with the motherboard length having been reduced by 31.4% compared to its predecessor. This aims to create more space for an increased battery capacity.

The brand has aimed to reduce the crease when the device is laid out entirely, with Pete Lau stating there is “no crease detected” in an X post.

In a first-look article on The Verge, it’s clear that the USB-C port almost touches the outside of the phone due to the device’s thinness.
