Ontario resident Nathan Adams won a six-figure payout on his very first spin at an online casino.
While playing at the Betty online casino, Ontario resident Nathan Adams took his first spin – and won $400,000. The game in question was the Fire Stampede slot game, a five-by-five grid play that moves from left to right and features a special sixth reel which can bring in extra prizes.
Although players of the game can usually utilize wilds, cash prizes, free spins, and respins to maximize their earnings, Adams didn’t need to use any of those to get a payout, winning $400,000 in the first spin. The structure of the game means that the grand jackpot can hit randomly at the end of any spin, meaning players can win big at any moment.
Adams told Canada Newswire that he was “in complete shock”, but plans to use the winnings to buy a house with his fiance.
“We’re beyond excited for Nathan,” said Chavdar Dimitrov, CEO of Betty. “At Betty, we pride ourselves on making big wins accessible by processing withdrawals instantly. Nathan already enjoys the payout in his bank account.”
Adams’ big payout aligns with market rise
Gambling payouts making the news usually come from the world of lottery games, like a recent UK lottery, Euromillions, that offered the chance to win hundreds of millions of dollars in one game.
However, online casino gambling is enjoying a meteoric rise, with FanDuel Casino reporting a 61% increase in winnings across the US. That has sparked a general industry-wide year-on-year market growth of at least 25%, with a collective $868.6 million in revenue recorded for the month of April in the US.
In April 2025, the online casino market recorded a revenue increase of more than $213 million – although that doesn’t quite reach the $900 million record feat achieved in March, 2025.
