Sometime last year, Nokia and Intel jointly announced the MeeGo platform which appears to be promising considering the pedigree of both companies. However, it took quite some time for the first MeeGo device to touch down. Well, looking at the design and appearance of the first MeeGo powered phone – Nokia N9, you will see the reason why it took some time for this device to arrive. Nokia probably wanted something premium for its MeeGo platform and the Nokia N9 just fits the profile. This smartphone comes with a premium design with a seamless usability and an unusual swipe technology that allows you to navigate between apps seamlessly.
Presently, there are not many smartphones with a curved screen which is scratch resistant. The Nokia N9 screen combines these two which makes it look premium and easy to use because you don’t have to worry about scratches on your screen. Beneath its premium appearance lies its rugged features
Nokia N9 is powered by a Cortex A8 clocking 1.0 GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB/64GB of internal memory. It is equipped with a 3.9-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 854 pixels display resolution. In the camera department, Nokia N9 comes with an 8MP Carl Zeiss camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash. The device was launched with MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan in September. The lights of this smartphone are kept on by a non-removable 1450 mAh battery which delivers up to 7 hours talk time. It can pair with accessories such as the Nokia Play 360° speakers using NFC technology and claims to be the world’s first smartphone with Dolby Digital Plus decoding and Dolby Headphone post-processing technology for superb surround sound experience. The Nokia 9 is will be available at Singtel, Starhub, M1 and Nokia retail stores from 15 October. The 16GB variant will sell for S$799 (RRP) while the 64GB version goes for S$899 (RRP).
