Here we are again at the end of the month, and also the year, with the most popular Tizen phone apps 2018. These are the Apps that you, Tizen mobile users, have downloaded the most during the whole of 2018.
This year has seen no new releases of Samsung Z-series smartphones. The last device that was launched was the Samsung Z4 – back in 2017. There were promises of more devices, but ultimately that did not materialise. In 2018, ACL, the technology that was used to run Android Apps on Tizen, was removed from the Tizen Store. Without any warning. This resulted in many big named apps and games from also being removed from the store.
Looking at the App list, In top position (yet again) is WhatsApp Messenger. As it has been since it was first released for the Tizen platform. The same applies to the second and the third placed apps – Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
The apps have been a mixture of games and utilities, but not as many BIG names as we had once hoped. We can see the next few positions are taken up by Opera Mini Web Browser, Xender, and Hancom Office Viewer.
There are still some big brand apps on the list such as Imo, Instagram, and VLC that can be Installed on your Tizen mobile, but it really is not enough to keep an App ecosystem alive. Much of Samsung’s Tizen efforts are now focused on the Galaxy Watch and Gear S3.
