Microsoft Teams, the workplace chat app competing with platforms like Slack, and Outlook, widely used for emails and calendar functions, both faced disruptions on Monday morning.
Users and the tracking site Down Detector reported disruptions, with Microsoft confirming problems with Exchange Online, the business email hosting service accessed via Outlook, as well as calendar features in Teams.
Microsoft noted that 87% of reported issues involved Outlook, particularly when accessed through the web. More than 800 issues have been logged on Down Detector. The issue left many users unable to manage emails, schedule meetings, or communicate effectively during the workday, sparking widespread frustration among professionals relying on the services.
Reports of disruptions on Down Detector seem to be decreasing after reaching their earlier peak.
Some users reported on X that the service status page did not show any problems.
According to your status page all good 😃
Other than the banner's icon on the All good text, and the service itself, everything is indeed good. pic.twitter.com/KjZ6xAfqo5— markinyo (@pere000) November 25, 2024
Where is the Microsoft issue happening?
The issues currently seem to be largely limited to users in the United Kingdom, though some social media users from France, the Netherlands, Poland, and Sweden have also reported problems on X.

This latest outage comes just four months after Microsoft faced what was described as one of the “most serious IT outages the world has ever seen.”
The incident affected supermarkets, banks, telecoms, streaming services, and PCs, while also disrupting operations at airports, railways, and GP surgeries.
