Former 80s and 90s strategy and simulation publishing house MicroProse has of late re-emerged and re-opened its publishing arm to revive some of its old franchises while taking on some new titles that also fit the remit. One such game that ticks those boxes is Misultin Studios’ upcoming EXFIL – a tactical FPS shooter designed by former members of the dev team behind the Squad franchise.
It’s a bit of a last-minute announcement as EXFIL will head into Early Access soon, on December 11th in fact, bringing its “multiplayer experience that combines realism-focused combat with creative sandbox gameplay.”. With a large community behind the project already on Discord, it will be interesting to see what the next few weeks hold for EXFIL now it has the backing of MicroProse behind it as well.
Early Access Launch
The Early Access release of EXFIL will focus on the extraction game modes, providing players with a polished core experience while gathering feedback to enhance and expand the game. Upcoming features include the addition of a fully featured scenario editor, NPC integration, a slot-based inventory system, global stat tracking, and much more.

Extraction-Style Game Modes:
- Classic Extraction: Teams compete to secure vital intel and exfiltrate, with only one team making it out alive.
- Rogue Extraction: An asymmetric mode where a small team of rogue operatives with critical intel must outwit and outmaneuver a larger opposing force.
EXFIL Features:
- Fully Simulated Bullet Physics: Every shot is calculated for trajectory, drop, velocity, and environmental interaction, including material penetration and ricochets.
- Dynamic Environments: Maps come alive with 24-hour day/night cycles, a simulated weather system, and unique environmental challenges like rain, fog, and sandstorms that demand on-the-fly adaptation.
- Authentic Arsenal: A growing collection of weapons, deployable traps, throwables, and night vision gear ensures players can find the perfect tools for their strategies.
